Honest Beauty Review

I received my Honest Beauty samples in the mail last week and have been using the products ever since. If you didn’t read my previous post, check it out here to read all about this new skincare and makeup line from the Honest Company.

I have combination skin, so I received the bundle for balanced skin.  This set included the Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser, Even Brighter Everyday Moisturizer and Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid.

The cleanser comes in all of the sets regardless of your skin type. This cleanser is great at removing all traces of makeup (after using makeup remover for my mascara), but doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and dry. It’s perfect as an everyday cleanser because it’s efficient and gentle at the same time.

The moisturizer is mean to be used both day and night which is what I’ve been doing. It’s moisturizing but not very heavy so I think in the winter, I will need something more hydrating at night. Since I’ve only been using it for about a week, I can’t say if my skin is brighter yet. This is very scented and it wasn’t until looking back at the ingredients to write this post that I’ve figured out what it is- licorice extract. The scent is pretty overpowering and it does linger longer than I would like it to. However, it does go away eventually so it’s not too bad.

The last item I received is the beauty fluid which is a zinc oxide sunscreen. I usually wear a tinted moisturizer that has sunscreen, so I only use extra sunscreen when I’ll be spending the day at the beach or going on a hike where I know I’ll spend the whole day in the sun. However, I’m trying to be better about wearing sunscreen times when my makeup doesn’t have SPF, so I’ve been turning to this. It has a similar strong scent that I don’t love, but it doesn’t last long so it’s not terrible. Plus the sample bottle is small so it’s easy to toss into my purse and have with me at all times.

All in all, I thought the products were fine, but I didn’t love the scent and therefore would not buy the full sizes. When I called to cancel my subscription, I mentioned the scent was an issue and they told me all of the makeup is all fragrance-free, so I am tempted to try some of the makeup!

Have you tried this brand of skincare care? What are your thoughts?
