Best Drugstore Lipsticks

If you had told me 3 years ago, my favorite beauty product would be lipstick, I would have laughed. My favorite had always been eyelash curler and mascara- I would never leave my house without those two items. In recent years however, I have become quite attached to lip products- lipsticks and lip balms in particular. I love the ease with which they transform a beauty look- one swipe and you look completely different.

On occasion I have dropped some serious cash on a lipstick I just couldn’t live without, but for the most part I prefer to buy drugstore lipsticks. The quality is usually just as good, and since it’s a fraction of the price, I can buy multiple and have a bigger variety. Keep on reading to learn more about my 4 favorite drugstore brands.

The Milani Color Statement Lipstick normally retails for $6.3, but CVS often has BOGO 50% off promos making each one $4.7, and sometimes has them on sale for $2.99. They come in a wide range of colors, from pinky nudes and bright reds, to deep berries and corals, and everything in between. With around 30 colors, you’re bound to find a color or two that peak your interest. These lipsticks are really creamy and apply so flawlessly. They have a pretty strong sweet scent, but it doesn’t linger too long.

NYX Butter Lipsticks are $6 each and can also be found on sale at both CVS and Ulta. Like Milani, it comes in a range of colors with more of an emphasis on the nude colors. These lipsticks are very moisturizing and lightweight so it doesn’t feel like there’s anything on the lips, however, there is a beautiful color that stays put! I’ve read reviews that since these lipsticks are so pigmented, you can put it on and remove it with a napkin to have perfectly stained lips which I will have to test.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss only come in bright and deep red colors, which is usually out of my comfort zone however I decided to grab one of the deeper red shades as they have such rave reviews. These lipsticks go on smoothly and the color lasts for a while. Even though these are matte lipsticks, they don’t leave your lips feeling dried but instead are actually quite moisturizing.

Burt’s Bees is the most expensive of the drugstore lipsticks ($9), and also the newest. I have been a fan of Burt’s Bees chapstick for as long as I can remember so of course I had to try their lipsticks. While they’re not nearly as moisturizing as the chapsticks (no surprise there), they do feel really nice on my lips.

What are your favorite drugstore lipsticks?

  • I love the Kate Moss range, the formula is great and also the colour payoff.

So far, I love the one color I have. I think I need to pick up an everyday shade so I can use it more frequently!
